Guide on customs declaration and duty free allowance for passengers' baggage

1. Passengers' baggage consists of personal effects or indispensable items for the purpose of the journey, including acconpanied baggage, baggage consigned before after their journey.

2. Passengers' baggage subject to customs declaration:

2.1 Baggage exceeds duty free concessions stipulated at point 4 here after;

2.2 Baggage is consigned before or after journey;

2.3 Foreign currency, gold with the amount falls in the cases as stipulated at point 5 here in after;

2.4 Professional equipment temporarily import and reexported or vice versa;

2.5 Addictive medicines;

2.6 Other medicines exceed US $30 in value

3. No restriction is imposed upon leaving passengers' baggage. expept those items stated in the list of prohibited ans conditioned exports.

4. Duty free concessions for the baggage of arriving passengers:

4.1 Liquor: When arriving passengers bring in one bottle of liquor exceeding duty free concession but the excess amount of liquor is not over 1 litre, the whole bottle is duty free; if the excess amount of liquor is over 1 litre, the passengers have to pay duty for the exceeding amount of liquor.

4.2 Cigarette nos, cigar, tobacco: arriving passengers are allowed to bring in the amount of duty free concessions; the excess amount should be deposited at Customs warehouse and will be returned to passengers at departure within the valid mandate of 180 days accounting from the date of deposit.

4.3 When the baggage of arriving passengers exceeds the amount of duty free concessions as stipulated at the above mentioned point 3,4,5 the excess amount will be subjuct to the regulations on imported goods.

5. Foreign currency, gold, precious stone must be declared in declaration form in the following cases:

5.1 Foreign currency exceeds US $3,000 (three thousand US Dollars) or its equivalent in other foreign currency, or over 5,000,000 VND (five million Viet Nam dong) in cash. Leaving passengers, in addition to customs declaration, must obtain prior permission from the State Bank of Viet Nam (excluding the amount brought at arrival and certified by customs).

5.2 Gold cubic, bar exceeds 01 Kg of leaving passengers, in addition to customs declaration, must present permission prior obtained from the State Bank of Viet Nam. Arriving passengers must deposit the excess amount at Customs warehouse.

5.3 From 300 gr to 01 Kg of jewelry gold, gold bar, raw gold.

5.4 More that 01 kg of jewelry gold, gold bar, raw gold.
Leaving passengers, in addition to customs declaration, must present permission prior obtained from the State Bank of Viet Nam. Arriving passengers must deposit the excess amount at Customs warehouse.

Passengers shall be handled according to Vietnamese laws for their inobservance of the regulations stated in this Guide.
